CHANDLER, Ariz. - Shirley Jane Burke, 86, Chandler, went to be with the Lord on Feb. 6, 2008. She was surrounded by her family who loved her very much and will miss her greatly.

Shirley was born Aug. 26, 1921, in Galesburg, Ill. She married William Frederick Burke in 1946, and together they raised eight children. She worked for 12 years as an administrative assistant in the Department of Education at Arizona State University. She spent her retirement years surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband William.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary Jane Pearson and Patricia Ann Molloy; her sons, William Frederick Burke Jr., John Joseph Burke, Thomas Edward Burke, Terence Patrick Burke, Daniel Lawrence Burke and Michael Llewellyn Burke. She also is survived by her sister, Llewellyn Britt.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 14, at Carr-Tenney Mortuary, Tempe, Ariz. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at Church of the Holy Spirit, Tempe, Ariz. Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Mesa, Ariz.
