Civil War Discussion Group GALESBURG - The Civil War Discussion Group will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the board room at Carl Sandburg College. Owen Muelder will present the talk "The Significance of the Fifth Lincoln-Douglas Debate." The Fifth Debate was held at Knox College on Oct. 7, 1858. Piecemakers Quilt Guild GALESBURG - The Piecemakers Quilt Guild meets at 7 p.m. the third Thursday of every month at First Church of the Nazarene, 1501 Webster St. A special program for Thursday will be given by Dr. Clarice Boswell entitled "Pre-Civil War Quilts: Their Hidden Codes to the Freedom of Slaves Through the Underground Railroad." Grief Support Group GALESBURG - OSF Hospice is offering a Grief Support Group from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. every Thursday. The group will meet at the OSF Home Care office, 3333 N. Seminary St. Deacon Jim Haneghan will facilitate the meetings, which are for anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one. It is free to the public and reservations are not required.
